Today, I had the pleasure of having a familiar face on the boat – my longtime client and good friend, Jimmy! He heard the crappie bite was on, so we made a plan and got to work. We rounded up a nice mess of quality slabs, with crappie fishing being as good as it has been for the last few days. The light winds made it easy to fish any spot we wanted, allowing us to cover a lot of water. We explored different areas and picked up fish along the way, including some tough, hard-headed ones, but the fish that wanted to bite didn’t hesitate—when they hit, it was a solid "thump!"
The winter crappie fishing pattern should hold on until April, which means now is a great time to catch some big crappie and stock up your freezer! We were fishing in 15-35 feet of water, targeting both suspended crappie and those holding tight to structures. We had success using a combination of hair jigs and plastics to land those slabs.
Thanks again to Jimmy for a great day on the water! Book your guided crappie fishing trip today to take advantage of the excellent bite. Don’t wait—great fishing conditions like these won’t last forever! See you on the water soon!
